Six Kinds of Panic Disorders to Understand
Do you find that you are often irritable, stressed, or find yourself in a point of panic complete with sweating, pain in your chest and other signs? It may be that you’ve suffered from a panic attack. There are a number of probable conditions that you may suffer from. Here are 6 of the most common classifications of anxiety disorder.
1. GAD – Generalized Anxiety DisorderThe person who suffers from GAD is simply famous for being worried about anything. This person will be thinking about the “what if…?” The level of severity of anxiety will vary from person to person, but may get so bad that it becomes too distracting to even accomplish the everyday tasks. Symptoms of GAD include an upset tummy, lack of energy and feeling restless.
2. Panic Disorder, or Panic AttacksThis version of anxiety will show up in the unexpected, immediate panic attack. These episodes can happen constantly, to where the recipient becomes anxious of the next attack. Another symptom is the belief that nobody will come to help when the next attack occurs.
3. PhobiasThis is simply an irrational fear of something that would not usually excite such a response from most people. This is a type of anxiety, though most don’t realize that’s the case. Fears usually include objects such as spiders or snakes, heights and elevators, to name a few.
4. Social anxiety disorderThis sort of anxiety disorder makes you feel public humiliation, and an uncommon fear of being rejected or being looked down on. Others may simply call this being shy, but it’s rather a disorder.
5. OCD or Obsessive-Compulsive DisorderObsessive-Compulsive Disorder has enjoyed much press over the past few decades, and it is a disorder that causes the person suffering from it to have compulsive behavior or thoughts. For instance, a persistent worry that the front door isn’t locked, or if the contents of your home and shelves, etc., have to be “just right,” are possible indicators of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
6. PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress DisorderFinally, you want to be familiar with PTSD, which is another disorder that the media has had a field day with. This usually takes place after traumatic events, such as life-threatening situations (as in war). Some symptoms include nightmares, being jumpy for no apparent reason, having flashbacks. Others find they can’t face situations that call to mind the traumatic event.
These are only six of the most common kinds of anxiety disorder. Many are well-known, but the truth is that people don’t realize they stem from anxiety. Use this article to seek the help you or a loved one may need to overcome their anxiety.
