“How to Stop a Panic Attack”

Monday, January 18th, 2010

If you are having trouble with panic or anxiety attacks, please read this article. I will outline how to prevent future panic attacks, the symptoms of panic attacks, and how to treat them when they occur. Millions of people have high anxiety and are experiencing paic attacks so don’t feel alone.
Panic attacks are frightening and often people take them as heart attacks, which they are not. The first symptom of a oncoming panic attack, is rapid heartbeat. You will feel hot, flushed, and have heightened body sensations. These attacks are often caused by fear or extreme anxiety. The second symptom is tense feelings and panic. People often try to fight their panic attacks instead of just letting the body sensations and heightened feeling play out. The Third symptom is sweaty palms, dizziness, nausea, restlessness, and racing thoughts. These symptoms are best if treated by not suppressing them but allowing them to develop. The last symptoms are fright, anxiety, and shaking.

To stop panic attacks, it’s best to go to your doctor and talk to him about medications that are compatible with you. Some medications include: Adderal, ridalin, and stratera. If you aren’t seeking medical help then the best solution for coping with your panic attacks is to just let the attacks happen. Don’t try to suppress the attack, in fact, embrace the heightened sensation and force it out. Once, you get the feeling you are about to have a panic attack let the anxiety or fear play out. Get all of your emotion out and exacerbate the powerful sensation. Panic attacks are tiring, so please try these solutions.

To prevent panic attacks the best things to practice are deep breathing, stretching and exercise, and gratitude. When you’re having a panic attack you will have spiraling, negative thoughts and will breath rapidly, often out of control. To combat this, practice deep breathing in through your nose, out through your mouth. Try to relax, think positive, and breath full when you fel you are about to elapse into negative thinking. To relieve stress and tension in your body it’s best to incorporate exercise or stretching into your weekly routine. Stretching helps one keep control of your body and have a relaxed, loose mindset. Stretching can also mitigate the intensity of a panic attack by 90%. Stretching also lets us bee in control of our breathing and can be a good thing to do when you feel an attack is about to happen. The third way to prevent panic attacks is to embrace life with a positive state of mind. Once you master this, you will notice that your panic attacks go away altogether. A good way to train this is to spend a few minutes every morning thinking about what your grateful for. You always have something to be thankful for and once you do this consistently you will start to think more positively. When you have more control over your thoughts, you can stop a panic attack from ever starting. Take all of these tips ad slowly incorporate some of these aspects into your life. They are essential to your mental state and stopping panic attacks from ever occurring again.

One of the most horrible things in the world is a panic attack. Anxiety is something that almost eveyrone has to experience sometime in their lives, but people who have constant and horrible panic attacks have to worry about the effects that it has on their lifestyle and the lives of people around them. Panic attacks are not easy to control, but they’re also not completely unavoidable. There are many ways that you can help cure your own anxiety. Although there are not any scientific ways to completely get rid of your anxiety, there actually are plenty of semi-scientific ways.

One of the best of these things is meditation. People who begin meditating generally learn how to avoid having the same type of panic attacks that they were having before, as they now have a more passive and calm approach towards things. Meditation has been proven to be the best cure for panic attacks as it is not only entirely reliable, it’s also the only cure that doesn’t involve taking unnatural substances. Most people believe that they can only stop panic attacks with expensive and dangerous medicine, but it’s quite possible to find a solution that doesn’t require anything more than inner peace.

Topic Title: Key Areas That Cause Anxiety Disorder

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Panic attacks have been the subject of controversy among researchers in neuroscience and medical fields for a long time. Are they purely attributable to psychological causes, and thus can be cured easily with talk therapy, or do they have underlying physiological causes in the brain? A group of scientists at the National Institutes of Mental Health may be able to provide some answers to these persistent questions. They recently examined brains of several sufferers of panic attacks and made some interesting discoveries. They discovered that these individuals were missing receptors, protein molecules which receive chemical signals in the brain, for the neurotransmitter (chemical signal) serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter involved in regulating mood, sleep, and appetite.

It is believed that serotonin normally binds to certain receptors in the brain when individuals are faced with new situations to help regulate their mood. If these receptors are not present, these individuals react in an anxious way that is typical of a panic attack. Symptoms include severe tension, tightness, and pain, and sufferers often report feeling near death. Support for the physiological cause hypothesis is the fact that many anxiolytic drugs make active the receptors that are supposed to absorb serotonin. Further tests must be done to verify to what extent this is actually the cause for this condition.

Panic Away to stop panic attacks

Friday, October 9th, 2009

According to an estimate prepared by adaa.org, about 40 million grown up Americans undergo anxiety or panic attack. They, lead a miserable life meeting one doctor after another, and spending fortune to come out of such situations.

So what is a panic attack? People who go through these attacks experience some physiological changes at that moment, such as unsteadiness, quivering, profuse perspiration, vomiting sensation, feel hot on face, breathlessness, etc. Not all these symptoms are present in everybody who has a panic attack, but these are the commonly noticeable symptoms.

Doctors do prescribe medications for such attacks. However, these invariably cause other reactions, far worse than what they are supposed to cure. Moreover, these medications can only offer temporary relief from such symptoms.

This makes Joe Barry’s Panic Away a boon for all such people. This book is written in a very simple way so that reader of every age group can relate with the author. Barry dismantles the factors that cause such panic, in a very refined way. The concepts presented in the book offer permanent cure to this social problem. The book is presently available in the market at just 50 percent of the price. It is definitely worth it.

Treating Panic Attacks

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Many Americans suffer from severe and mild panic attacks. The tightening of the chest, a sudden overwhelming feeling of terror, shortness of breath, and sometimes even heart palpitations can all be signs of having a panic attack.

There are multiple forms of treatment for people who suffer from panic attacks. Depending on the person they may wish to have the quick fix of medication, although this may actually exacerbate the problem due to the often habit forming nature of such drugs; or they may wish to go through years of psychotherapy, which can often become very expensive.

The first step in dealing with and treating panic attacks is to become informed on the subject. Panic attacks can be caused by several different factors and quite often cutting down on the things that can worsen or trigger panic attacks can sometimes be the only solution needed. Things that cause high stress such as difficult or stressful jobs, or home life can be a huge contributor to panic attacks, as well as smoking, drinking, and poor diet and exercise.

Simply cutting down or quitting drinking, and smoking, as well as cutting down on stress related tasks can sometimes lessen the frequency of panic attacks or stop panic attacks from reoccurring completely. Consulting a physician can be the first and best step to trying to be cured of panic attacks entirely.
